Suggested teaching progression

Connect: repeated multiplication → powers of ten → writing very large and very small numbers. Extend: scientific notation → exponent laws → algebraic simplification → future mathematics.

Curriculum note: scientific notation is an Ontario Grade 8 expectation. The exponent masterclass also contains advanced algebraic laws as extension material, not all of which are Grade 7 curriculum requirements.
